the man who fell

we awoke on saturday morning to find this plastic man poised on the window sill as if he had fallen from a window above. at first I thought that our quirky artist landlady had set him there for our amusement. but actually some one had set him there for her amusement. he is the third bendy figurine that has found his way to her window sill. it is these little funny things that make our days exciting. oh wait...and the daily exploration of our new city, London.

We had a good end to last week...England won a world cup match on thursday, John decided he would create casual fridays at his new job by wearing jeans and an 'Oracle' polo, and Cassie set up her first job interview.

This weekend was a much needed break for us. We finally had time to settle in to our new home together(check out some pictures of our fully furnished garden flat in 'our photo gallery' link on the right of this page). On saturday we started to do some much needed laundry but we quickly realized that the maximum load was 1/3 the american size, the wash cycle was 2 hours and the dry time was at least 2 hours. So we decided to explore the city and gorgeous weather instead of do 12 hours worth of laundry.

We have found that the lifestyle here is very easy to love. Markets in the streets, local pubs, world cup fever, tiny appliances, daily grocery shopping, crazy people watching, the tube, and the heavy amount of walking.
