a trip to the seaside

As summer comes to an end, the weather in London is still beautiful, but we decided to take a trip to the seaside while it was still warm and sunny. So Cassie picked a destination.... Bournemouth... an award winning english beach town. Known for its unspoiled coast line and clean soft sandy beaches. We got ouselves up early on a Saturday and headed out to Victoria Station (London's major train depot). We got tickets, transferred once at Clapham Junction where we sipped coffees and sat amongst the train spotters. Train spotting is a really popular hobby here. The two hour train ride was great.... we really love the train.
The day was extremely windy and just barely 70 degrees. But Bournemouth and the towns nearby were wonderful. We walked the entire beach coast spanning across four towns. The seaside cliffs sheltered us from seeing any signs of city above. All along the beach there are colorful little chalets, the size of a sall shed, that you can rent out for shelter and tea facilities. And english surfers catching waves and listening to jack johnson music.
We stopped a pub overlooking the beach for pints and a nacho snack. The beer was refreshing and cheap. The nachos were strange as they were atop a salad which meant there was an occasional cucmber or carrot mixed in. Well nachos is definitely not something we will continue to order in england...they just dont understand how to make em. After our pub stop we walked through the towns, some of which were busy with markets and shopping, others were very quiet. The streets of Bournemouth in particular were very hilly. It was the most city like of all the area and it seemed like a lovely place to live.
Basically we spent the whole day wandering and taking it all in. It was great to be out of London, roll up our trousers and walk along the beach. On our train ride back to busy London, we rested our tired legs and decided that we would return to Bournemouth next summer to rent out a chalet and enjoy the water.
