animal friendly

It seems to me that the english love their animals, and it is not uncommon to see dogs in restaurants, pubs, grocery stores, boutiques, department stores etc. I generally love it, because I am an animal lover. A new favorite pub we have found is The Eight Bells. It is an old style english pub with history back to the 1720's. Tucked in a great lil corner near the river it attracts a good mixed crowd. The decor is homey, there is indoor/outdoor seating and a few people seem to be regular fixtures at the bar as well, but the best added feature of the place is the animals. On our first visit there was a sweet little cat weaving in and out of the tables, and on our second visit the owner's funny little pug was bossing about. It makes the atmosphere even more friendly and fun when you get to see some animal antics.

And it is something we have come across before. There was an orange striped cat in the Tiger Pub and a great german shepherd looking terribly bored outside another place.

So people and places begin to be defined by their animals. Places become known as th kitty kat pub and people...well... there is the cute old man with his statfordshire terrier, the salon owner with his mini miniature yorkie, melinda with her pugs, the tough looking guy and dog who gets blamed for fouling the path, the preppy couple with their poodle, james and elsabeth with their westie and lab puppy, the fashionista with her tiny black fluffy thing, the drunk guy on the bicycle with his retriever, and of course the wire haired doxie triplets.

And its not just me who refers to people with their animals....many neighbors whom have lived here for years do it too.
